Dating online? You’re not alone- 1 out of 3 couples find love online!
With such busy schedules with work, school, and kids, it’s no wonder the convenience of dating apps have taken over. Chances are, if you’ve dated online, you’ve taken a few moments to set up your profile. My juggle all three responsibilities, so I turn to dating apps knowing I don’t have a lot of time to be social in my spare time.
A dating profile is the first and only impression they’ll get of you, so you want it to best reflect your best qualities. It’s not a resume, or a place to list all your best/worst qualities, or chalk yourself up to be something you’re not and end up sounding conceited or desperate. You might be asking- well how do I even begin? Well, you’re in the right place!
Here’s how to make the most of your online dating profile:
1. Ask your friends for help!
Sometimes your good friends can describe you in ways you can’t- get a few second opinions, and keep it short and concise! It might be interesting to hear what they have to say as well.
2. Browse other profiles for inspiration
Unsure of where to start? Look at other dating profiles to see what they listed, what they keep out, and put your own spin on it! Flutter displays a list of “Top Profiles” for men and women each week and are a great place to look for inspiration!
3. Go candid
Try to include photos of you in action! A photo of you giving a best man’s speech, a quick capture of you mid-karaoke or goofing off with friends will generate more likes and messages. It shows a fun side of your personality in just a snapshot.
4. Use the prompts!
Dating apps like Flutter allow you to select prompts such as “Two truth and a lie”, “My love language is…”, or “An interesting fact about me is…” to share personalized glimpses into your life. Be bold, and be honest! This is a great conversation starter and is sure to maximize your likes and matches.
5. Focus on me
Select photos where you’re the main focus! A shot or two of you and your friends is great, but make sure you have some clear photos of what you look like too! Avoid sunglasses and shadows or items that might block out your face. Your potential dates want to see what you look like, or they might ‘X’ out due to uncertainty.
6. Honest=the best policy
Be authentic and genuine in your dating profile! You don’t want to be caught later in a small lie and lose somebody’s trust. Love who you are and you will attract the right person.
7. Avoid cliches!
Don’t list personality traits and preference for income or appearance in your profile. It may make you seem unapproachable and overly picky. You want to come off as somebody one can get to know, have a conversation with, and learn from.
Flutter is a new Sunday only dating app!

Only available on Sundays, Flutter offers a revolutionized approach to dating. The founders believe that dating shouldn’t be accessible 24/7 with unlimited matches, so they opened it up for one day a week each week to ensure participation and create a more intentional audience who is focused on creating connections. There are also limited matches, and all matches and messages expire at midnight!
I’ve been using Flutter for a few weeks now and I’ve been having a great experience with it. It’s easy to navigate, I enjoy setting aside time on Sundays to be focused on using the app, and starting the week out with a new potential relationship. I look forward to the Sunday events and seeing what profiles I get to sift through.
Right now, Flutter is only available in the Bay Area, but will be available in more locations worldwide.
